GREENART Project and MAC USP jointly organized a conference and training session, on March 29, 2023, in São Paulo, Brazil, on the use of new materials in the conservation and restoration of Cultural heritage. The event was aimed at exploring the multiple and constantly evolving issues involved in the development and application of new materials. It was attended by a diverse group of professionals from art historians to conservators and from heritage scientists to academics.
The conference discussed, amongst others, the criteria of compatibility, reversibility, and stability, which must be met by new materials used in conservation and restoration projects. The event also explored the role of a conservator in a scientific research project.
