Elena Semenzin, a key partner in the GREENART project from Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, recently gave a significant platform presentation at the SCI 2024 – XXVIII National Congress (Conference & Exhibition). Held from August 26th to 30th, 2024, at the Allianz MiCo Congress Center in Milan, this event is recognized as the premier chemistry conference in Italy, this year under the theme “Chemistry Elements of Future.”
Elena Semenzin’s presentation, entitled “Testing the EU Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) Framework for Chemicals and Materials in Specific Fields: An Example on Innovative Solutions for Art Restoration,” was delivered on the morning of Thursday, August 29th. This insightful session was part of the “Divisione Chimica dell’Ambiente e dei Beni Culturali” program, highlighting the intersection of environmental chemistry and cultural heritage conservation.
The presentation, co-authored by M. Menegaldo, E. Giubilato, L. Pizzol, and E. Badetti from Ca’ Foscari University of Venice and GreenDecision, showcased the application of the EU’s Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) framework in developing innovative, sustainable solutions for the restoration and conservation of art. The research highlights the importance of integrating sustainability into chemical design processes, particularly in fields as critical as cultural heritage preservation.
