The online conference “Green Materials for Conservation in Cultural Heritage” held on July 15, 2024, was a resounding success. Organized by the GREENART Project in collaboration with the University of West Attica, Articon Lab, and the Lab of Soft Energy Applications & Environmental Protection, the event saw a great response with 250 participants.
The conference brought together leading experts and researchers who shared groundbreaking insights into sustainable and innovative methods for the conservation of cultural heritage.

- An overview of the GREENART Project and its green approaches to conservation by Piero Baglioni from the University of Florence.
- Discussions on new gels and cleaning fluids for cultural heritage by Giovanna Poggi and Piero Baglioni.
- Presentations on bio-based multifunctional coatings and sustainable nanocomposite coatings by Gabriella Di Carlo and Gennaro Gentile from the Italian National Research Council.
- Insights into green consolidants by David Chelazzi and Romain Bordes.
- Advanced solutions for the preventive conservation of cultural heritage using graphene by Costas Galiotis.
- Evaluation methodologies for new materials within the GREENART project by Athina Alexopoulou.
- Life cycle safety and sustainability assessment by Elena Semenzin.
- Awareness activities within the GREENART project by Stefania Melandri.
- The event concluded with a lively QA session and closing remarks, leaving attendees inspired and informed about the latest advancements in the field of cultural heritage conservation.
